Rum Futures - How it works
The Purchase
Rum Futures acquires rum in 200 litre barrels, at time of production. These rum barrels form the foundation of your investment, and your acquisition of a futures contract expects that rum will age for 2-3 years in our secured, insured rum bond in Barbados in the West Indies.
Aging the Investment
It's in our secure and insured rum bond, by the shores of the Caribbean Sea, that your rum investment will age for 2-3 years. Protected from the hot sun but exposed to the sea breeze, the characteristics of your rum will develop and gain value, translating into an exceptional growth in your portfolio.
Selling your Asset
At the designated maturity date, both the rum and your investment are deemed to be mature. The rum is then sold to a buyer for delivery and the difference between the acquisition cost, and the sale price is returned to you along with your initial investment. Dependent on the state of rum markets at the time of disposal, rates of return are expected to be 15-20% annualized. This expected rate of return is based on our initial selection of high quality, in demand rums from some of the world's top producers.
